Financial updates for October 20, 2026

The Société des Études Latines is a non-profit association dedicated to promoting Latin and supporting all those interested in the subject. Consequently, its members decided at several General Meetings to create this website in order to publicize their activities and make the Latin Studies Review available online for everyone to consult.

All tables of contents for the Review—spanning from 1923 up to Volume 100—are now freely accessible. In addition, the full texts from the Review are available online via a subscription. They form a database of approximately 40,000 pages, comprising hundreds of articles and thousands of reviews of French and foreign books covering every aspect of Latin civilization: textual history, editions, literary history, historical sciences, the history of religions, archaeology and art history, epigraphy and numismatics, Late, Medieval, and Neo-Latin studies, mélanges (miscellanies), educational works, and more. The site is secure and allows for searches by date, title, author, or even any keyword across the entire database, which is updated annually. Videos have also been freely available since November 2020.

The treasurer wishes to thank everyone who contributed to this undertaking, particularly those who lent or donated their journals for digitization, as well as The Philological Year, whose website informed the design of the Latin Studies Society site. A new contract for the distribution of the print edition of the REL to institutions was signed on October 28, 2025, with Classiques Garnier (6 rue de la Sorbonne, 75005 Paris); this is now the contact address for both institutional distribution and single-issue sales  revues@classiques-garnier.com

Furthermore, the Extraordinary General Meeting of April 14, 2026, decided to modernize the original website to better ensure its security and that of its users, by contacting Luminess, the company that built the first website (then under the name Jouve). The Société des Etudes Latines (Society for Latin Studies) will now manage the online distribution of its journal; please contact the treasurer of the Société des Etudes Latines at jd52@orange.fr

For individual members of the association, nothing changes. However, they will now have the option to pay online.

Call to members for membership fees

Jeanne Dion, Treasurer of the Latin Studies Society

To the Members of the Latin Studies Society

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

At the start of 2026, I hope you and your loved ones had a wonderful holiday season and I wish you good health and a happy new year.

Our Latin Studies Society experienced difficulties with its former distributor, Belles Lettres Diffusion Distribution. However, thanks to the decision you made at the Extraordinary General Meeting on October 18, 2025, it has now chosen Classiques Garnier as the distributor of its print journal. Volume 102 of the REL has been published, and the online database extends to volume 100 on a secure website; you can consult our tables of contents and videos there. A new Extraordinary General Meeting will decide on the choice of a distributor for the online journal once several serious proposals have been received in response to my requests for quotes.

Our General Meeting took place on December 13, 2025, both at the Sorbonne and online. As last year, no increase in membership fees was voted on.

If you would like the next print issue of the REL (Volume 103), you can, as usual, make a check for €60 payable to the Société des Etudes Latines and send it to my home address:
Jeanne DION, 52 avenue P. Déroulède, 54520 LAXOU, France, clearly indicating "print" so that I can easily identify your request. You can also visit the freely accessible section of the website and click on "Subscribe to the REL" on the homepage: you will find a membership form there. Thank you for completing this form, even if you subscribe to the print edition of the journal. We will be providing you with as much information as possible online.

If you would like the online version of the journal (volumes 1-100), you must complete the form:

- If this is your first online subscription, click on "new" and choose your own username and password.

- If this is a renewal of your online subscription, simply click on "renewal."

In all cases, please send your check, made payable to the Société des Etudes Latines, to my home address (see above): Subscription for the print or online version only: €60; Subscription for both the print and online versions: €90; Online subscription only: €30 for those under 30 years of age who are not yet employed (please include supporting documents).

Subscription details for individuals who are not members of the Société des Études Latines and for institutions such as libraries are available on the website under "Financial News." There is also a short guide for individuals to complete the subscription forms.

Whatever your choice, I would be grateful if you could let me know before May 2026, as this simplifies sending the next volume of the Revue as soon as it comes off the press. Please be sure to include your postal address and email address, and also inform our Administrator, B. Poulle, of any changes. Please note: our association's bylaws do not allow us to issue tax receipts.

I extend my sincere gratitude for your unwavering and courageously modern commitment to Latin and our association. In this complex world, it is a source of inspiration and hope.

Sincerely,

Jeanne Dion

An IP address is the numerical address of a computer connected to the Internet. It consists of four segments separated by dots. The first three segments identify the network to which the computer belongs; the fourth identifies the computer within that network.
E.g., 111.111.11.22; the computer is identified by 22, and the rest is its network identifier.
An IP address range refers to all computers whose IP addresses begin with the same first three segments. A range contains up to 256 addresses. E.g., the range 111.111.11.0–255 includes all computers with IP addresses starting with 111.111.11.
Proxy servers require subscriptions for multiple IP address ranges.
