Welcome on the website of Société & Revue des Études Latines

The Société des Études Latines

History. — The Société des Études Latines, founded in 1923, brings together individuals in France, Europe, and abroad who are interested in Roman antiquity in all its aspects—including literature, linguistics, and historical studies—as well as its ongoing legacy (the Middle Ages, Humanism, and Neo-Latin). Through its activities, the Society contributes to the defense and promotion of classical studies.

From November to June, it holds a monthly meeting dedicated to scholarly presentations, which may be published in the Revue des Études Latines (REL), the Society’s journal. The REL is published annually by the Society. Each volume, comprising approximately 500 pages, includes scholarly articles—derived from the presentations and selected by the reading committee—and a critical review section covering works sent to the Society for review.
